Season 1915–16 was the 39th Scottish football season in which Dumbarton competed at national level, entering the Scottish Football League for the 17th time.

Overview

Dumbarton finished 9th, out of 20, in the First Division with 37 points, 30 behind champions Celtic. This was the second season of war-time football, where the playing of all other national competitions, including the Scottish Cup, were suspended.^[1]

Locally, while Dumbarton did not enter the Dumbartonshire Cup, this season saw the inaugural playing of the Dumbartonshire Charity Cup, however Dumbarton were knocked out in the first round by Clydebank.

During the season two 'friendlies' were also played, both being won, scoring 7 goals for the loss of none.
