Vincentia, New South Wales

Vincentia is a town in New South Wales, Australia in the City of Shoalhaven, on the shores of Jervis Bay. It is roughly 25 kilometres (16 mi) southeast of Nowra, and approximately 200 kilometres (120 mi) south of Sydney. In 2006, the population of the State Suburb of Vincentia was 2,875. [1]

Vincentia was originally known as "The Old Township" or "South Huskisson". In 1952 it was renamed Vincentia (after the battle of Cape St Vincent) by developer Henry Halloran.[2] It was after the battle of Cape St Vincent, that John Jervis (after whom Jervis Bay was named) was made Earl St Vincent.
