The parish was founded in 1992 by Jaime Cardinal Sin, who also installed Jaime M. Zurbano, Jr. as the first parish priest. The name Our Lady of the Annunciation was suggested by Msgr. Arsenio Bautista.

Before the establishment of the said parish, the faithful used to go to the San Nicolas de Tolentino (Philippines). The chapels under their (Augustinian Recollect Fathers) jurisdiction include the Jem 9, Landcom, and Banlat chapels, and the Saint Vincent Seminary chapel of the Vincentian Fathers.

In 1991, Saint Charbel chapel was designated their main place of worship by Msgr. Josefino Ramirez, V.G. and installed Fr. Jun Zurbano as chaplain.

Saint Charbel chapel could no longer fully accommodate the growing number of people. Hence, Fr. Jun helped in building a new place of worship in a new site at Saint Dominic 3 Subdivision along Mindanao Avenue. 50% of the total land area of 1,111 square meter was donated by the Geraldez Family and the other half was given by the Archdiocese of Manila. The population of the parish is now approximately 60,000 covering 35 subdivisions and villages in Barangay Tandang Sora.

The construction of the new parish church formally started with a ground-breaking ceremony on October 1991 officiated by Cardinal Sin. It was not until February 1993, however, when the foundation and the main structures were started by Architect Luis Nicanor Aguirre IV and Associates, Engineer Benjie Reyes and the TERP Construction Company.

Elpidio R. De Peralta, Jr. is the incumbent Pastor of the Parish and Rector of the Shrine, is a priest of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Novaliches.

The Annunciation (anglicised from the Latin Vulgate Luke 1:26-39 Annuntiatio nativitatis Christi), also referred to as the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary or Annunciation of the Lord, is the Christian celebration of the announcement by the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive and become the mother of Jesus, the Son of God, marking his Incarnation. Gabriel told Mary to name her son Jesus, meaning "Saviour". Many Christians observe this event with the Feast of the Annunciation on 25 March, nine full months before Christmas, the birthday of Jesus. According to Luke 1:26, the Annunciation occurred "in the sixth month" of Elizabeth's pregnancy with John the Baptist.[1] Irenaeus (c.130-202) of Lyon regarded the conception of Jesus as 25 March coinciding with the Passion.[2]

OLAP (Parish Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation - Diocesan Shrine of the Incarnation) belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Novaliches and is at the border between the Diocese of Novaliches and the Diocese of Cubao. It also sits at the border between two Vicariates within the Diocese of Novaliches, Vicariate of San Isdiro Labrador and Vicariate of San Bartolome.

The Church is dedicated St. John Mary Vianney - John Vianney (8 May 1786 – 4 August 1859), and solemnly blessed by Cardinal Jaime Sin on November 24, 2000.
