Magic15 (game)

Magic15 is a game which is similar to tic-tac-toe and Pick15. In this two player game, unlike in tic-tac-toe, the players play using the numbers between 1 through 9 instead of Xs and Os like in traditional tic-tac-toe.[1][2]

Play

Magic15 is played on a empty 3-by-3-board like in tic tac toe. Each player takes turns selecting a number between 1 and 9 and playing it on the 3-by-3 board. However, each number can only be used once so after it is selected it can't be played again. If a player creates a line of three numbers that add up to 15, that player wins the game.[3][1] The game ends in a draw if all the numbers are used and none of the players create a line of numbers that add up to 15.[3][4]

Relationship to Pick15 and tic-tac-toe

Magic15, Pick15 and tic-tac-toe are the same game mathematically because the winning positions of each game map to the other games.[2] However, the games are perceived differently by players.[2][3]
