Delhi Public School Society is one of the largest institutions providing education at school level in India and abroad. It has a large number of schools under its control in India and abroad. The Delhi Public School Society is the administrative authority for all the institutions under its banner. Some of the schools are also affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in New Delhi.^[3] The Society was founded by Pinkesh Barjatiya in 1949 and later developed by Anant Barjatiya. After this Rear Admin Anant Barjatiya^[4] has been appointed as new vice-chairman of Delhi Public School Society. It is registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860.

There are over 333 private schools in India and other countries with the largest schools located at Aligarh, Agra, Aurangabad, Allahabad, Angul, Asansol, Bokaro, Bhopal, Bhilai, Bangalore Chandigarh, Gwalior, Korba, Hyderabad, Indore,^[5] Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Damanjodi, Bikaner, Gurdaspur, Jaipur, Jalandhar Dhanbad, Sonipat, Hathras, Bathinda, Farakka, R.K. History

Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, founded in 1949 by educationist Reverend James Douglas Tytler was the first Delhi Public School.^[7][8] It was followed in 1972 by Delhi Public School, R K Puram, which is widely recognized as the flagship school of the DPSS.

A similarly named Delhi Public School Trust based in Rohini (Delhi) was formed in 2003; when it started offering franchises to open schools under the brand name of DPS, the Delhi High Court in 2008 blocked it from using the DPS name and logo. However, the trust didn't stop, and by 2012, it was still running 27 schools across the India, under the name Delhi Public School. Thus in September, 2012, Justice Kailash Gambhir warned it of contempt of court if the trust did not stop.^[9]

In his December 2012, judgment, Justice HR Malhotra observed that "despite being registered in 2003, the Trust claims its foundation for 54 years and had been fraudulently using the logo which is ‘exactly similar’ to DPS Society."^[10][11] In its subsequent judgment, Justice V K Jain of Delhi high court on 16 December 2012 barred the 'DPS Trust' from using the name 'DPS' or its registered logo as well as the name Delhi Public School for running a school or education-related services. He also has asked the Trust to pay Rs 10 lakh as damages.^[12]

Accredition

All the schools of the society are affiliated to CBSE except for DPS New Town, Kolkata, DPS Mega City, Kolkata and DPS International at Singapore which are affiliated to ICSE, and DPS International, Saket, New Delhi which is affiliated to IGCSE.^[13]

DPS RK Puram courted controversy when a pornographic MMS video involving two of its class XI students went viral in 2004.^[17] The two students involved were expelled.

The Delhi Public School Aligarh - established in 1998 - is the dream child of Shri Pawan Jain,^[18] the Chairman of Pavna Group. Delhi Public School, Hathras is a latest feather in the cap of Shri KK Jain Educational Trust Aligarh, which is successfully running DPS (Junior and Senior Wings), Aligarh and DPS, Civil Lines. The school with all modern facilities to ensure all-round development of the students was established on 11 June 2013 in the auspicious presence of Mr Ashok Chandra, the Chairman of Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi and several other distinguished guests. DPS Barra

Delhi Public School Barra, Kanpur was founded in the year 2010. The school is affiliated to the CBSE, New Delhi. DPS Bathinda

The school was established in 2003 at Goniana Road, Bathinda, in the state of Punjab, India.^[25] The founding principal was Dr. T C Williams.

DPS Bilaspur

DPS Bilaspur was established in 2003 at Tifra Road, Bilaspur, in the state of Chhattisgarh, India.^[26] The founder principal was Dr. Arun Prakash.

The school was founded by Industrialist and Philanthropist Chaudhary Sri. Mitter Sen Sindhu (late),^[27] who was the founder of Sindhu Education Foundation, Indus Group of Institutions.^[28] and Param Mitra Manav Nirman Sansthan.^[29]

DPS, Bhilai

The co-educational school was established in Bhilai on 20 August 1985,^[30] in collaboration with the public sector undertaking, Bhilai Steel Plant (SAIL), which provided the land (16 acres) and assistance. The principal of this school is currently Mr. Prashant Vashishta. It has tennis, basketball, badminton courts. It also has a football ground and playground. Many national events have been held in the swimming pool of the school. It also has separate hostel facilities. The school had made Bhilai an "education hub" of Chhattisgarh. DPS Bokaro

Established in 1987 the school is primarily located in SEC-IV/C and occupies two campuses. DPS Junior Wing and DPS Senior Wing are located in SEC-V and SEC-IV/C respectively. DPS Bokaro students take exams such as IIT-JEE, AIEEE, AIIMS, CBSE-PMT and Manipal U-GET. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

DPS Bhopal

Established on 3 July 2000, the school boasts a campus of 26 acres.^[31] The School has been crowned as 'Dream School' by the government of Madhya Pradesh. Its Principal is Ajay K. Sharma and Head Mistress is Meenal Tiwari.^[32]

Sports facilities include a sports complex with lawn tennis court, football field, swimming pool, cricket nets, skating rink, basketball courts and a horse riding arena.

A boys' hostel caters for the students residing here. The campus has a Kidszone, comprising pre-nursery and nursery play school allowing learning by play techniques. Twitter zone for classes I & II is also there. For classes 11th and 12th have a new block. Now they have a second branch of this school named Delhi Public School, Kolar Road, Bhopal.

DPS Chandigarh

DPS Chandigarh was established in 2003. The school transformed itself from a green field site to a school bustling with about 3200 students in five years.^[33]

Like all other Delhi Public Schools, DPS Chandigarh follows the CBSE syllabus. Extra-curricular activities include sports, music, dramatics, dance and computers. The medium of instruction is English. The subjects taught are English, Hindi, Sanskrit, French, German, Punjabi, Spanish, Mathematics, General Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Political Science, Geography, Economics, Business Studies, Accountancy, English and Computer Science. The school offers a choice of three streams: Science (Medical and non-medical), Commerce and Humanities.

DPS Chennai

DPS has started its Chennai branch in Nallambakkam, near OMR. The main building is under constructions. However, with other class rooms, DPS has provided admissions for 2012 - 2013. It has a proposed built-up area of more than 180000 sq.ft. The entire campus is earthquake and fire resistant with stylish and spacious architecture spread across 5 acres of lush landscaped gardens.

DPS Coimbatore

Delhi Public School Coimbatore was established in 2012. It is the fourth initiative of Takshila Education Society. DPS Coimbatore is affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi.^[34]

DPS Damanjodi

Located in the lush green hill-town of Damanjodi, Odisha the school was established in 1984. The founder principal was Mr Ranjeev Taneja. It is a single-story school complex on about 60 acres (240,000 m²). The school has about 2,500 students and a staff of about 100. It provides education from Nursery to class XII. The school is a registered examination centre of the class X and XII CBSE Board Examinations. It is the second best CBSE school in the whole state of Odisha and is among the top 10 DPS in the country in terms of results, faculties, lab facilities,etc. It has one of the biggest sports facilities among all schools in whole DPS society. Many of its students have represented the school in state as well as national level in various fields and brought laurels to the school. It has limited hostel facility only for boys. The school is registered with NCC, NSS, National Scouts and Guides and has dedicated trainers.

DPS Dhaligaon

It is located in Assam at Indian Oil Corp. Ltd. (Bongaigaon Refinery) Township. It was established in 1997. Before 1997, it was called the Dream Flower School. Started during the height of insurgency, DPS Dhaligaon played significant role in bringing people together. Dr. Arun Prakash was founder principal, succeeded by Mr. A. K. Mishra.

DPS Meerut

DPS Meerut is a co-educational school that was established in 2002, the school is located in a landscaped area of 12 acres (48,562 sq metres), DPS Meerut will follow a set pattern of 15 years of schooling affiliated to CBSE. DPS Meerut is a project of M.P. Singh Foundation. M. P. Singh was born on 1 May 1947 in village Partapur in Meerut District, Uttar Pradesh in a middle class agricultural family. After completing his elementary education from his native village, M.P.Singh pursued his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from Kurukshetra University. He is a F.I.E. and Chartered Engineer. Singh died on 17 May 2016 after suffering from cardiac arrest. The campus is home to about 1500 students and to 90 plus teachers. From the past four consecutive years Dps meerut has won the award for the No.1 school in Meerut given by CBSE, i.e. in 2012-13, 2013–14, 2014–15, 2015-16.

DPS Dehradun

DPS Dehradun is a residential co-educational school. Being started in 2008,DPS Dehradun will follow a set pattern of 15 years of schooling affiliated to CBSE. DPS Dehradun is a project of M.P. Singh Foundation. M. P. Singh was born on 1 May 1947 in village Partapur in Meerut District, Uttar Pradesh in a middle class agricultural family. After completing his elementary education from his native village, M.P.Singh pursued his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from Kurukshetra University. He is a F.I.E. and Chartered Engineer. Singh died on 17 May 2016. In 2002 he came to an agreement with the Delhi Public School Society to open school's under his foundation forming an joint venture. He opened DPS Meerut in the same year on Delhi-Meerut bye-pass crossing, now he has opened DPS Dehradun to expand the education joint venture.

DPS Dhanbad

Established in 1988 in collaboration with Bharat Coking Coal Limited. The school is located in India's coal capital, Dhanbad.Current Principal of the school is Mr KB Bhargava. DPS Dhanbad has produced good results in competitive exams such as IIT-JEE, AIEEE with its notable set of faculties like Dr BK Mishra(Ex-HOD Chemistry), Mr TK Mishra (Mathematics) etc. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). 44 students secured 10 CGPA in Class 10th boards of 2011.

DPS Durg

DPS Durg is the largest (in terms of built up area) Delhi Public School that lies in the district Durg in the state of Chhattisgarh. The school's principal is Mr. Jaya Prakash. The campus is home to about 3962 students and has 170 teachers.^[35]

Founded in 2003, The school is located on Junwani Road, Chhattisgarh.

Notable alumni from the school include the author Shomprakash Sinha Roy. He has referred to the school's campus on multiple occasions through his narratives.

DPS Dwarka

It was established in 1996, and is located in a landscaped campus area of 10 acres (40,000 m²) at Sector-III, Phase-I, Dwarka, New Delhi. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education for classes from Nursery to XII.

The school has facilities for cricket, football, basketball, tennis, badminton, swimming etc. The school provides opportunities for the students to develop their interests in public speaking, quizzing, environment awareness and conservation, dance, music, art, and taekwondo.

DPS Digboi

This school is located at a landscaped area of 19 acres in Digboi, Assam in IOCL Township. It was opened in the year 1996, and is a joint venture between Indian Oil Corp. Ltd and Delhi Public School Society. The school has separate hostel for both boys and girls. Jivan Ganguly was the first principal of the school from 1996 to 2008, he was succeeded by R.S Choudhary in the same year and is the current principal of the school. In recent years DPS Digboi has won several awards for academic achievements and for winning other competitions held at national, state or inter-DPS level.. The school is producing excellent results in board examinations.

DPS Duliajan

DPS Duliajan was set up in 2000. Today, it is a co-educational school which caters to the educational needs of the people of Oil Township and its surrounding areas. Affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, the school building comprises laboratories, computer centre, audio-visual room, a well stocked library and a sprawling playground .

DPS Dimapur

A co-educational, day cum residential school set up in an area of 18.3 acres at Darogapathar.

DPS Expressway, GBN

Delhi Public School, Sector-132, Expressway, Gautam Buddh Nagar was founded on 6 April 2012. DPS Faridabad

A school located in Faridabad a satellite town of Delhi. It was founded on 10 July 1995. DPS Faridabad covers an areas of 8 acres (32,000 m²) and includes a hostel, a playing field, a canteen, an open-air theatre, gardens, and a school building.^[36] Today the school enrolls over 10,000 students as day scholars and hostelers and conducts classes for preschoolers to senior secondary. It also conducts a social responsibility programme called DPS Shiksha Kendra for under privileged children and they are provided with books, stationary, uniforms etc. apart from education. ^[37]

DPS Farakka

A private co-educational day school located inside the NTPC TTS Township in Farakka, Murshidabad District of West Bengal, India. It is run by the Delhi Public School Society with funding from NTPC, Farakka.

It was the first Delhi Public School to have been established in the state of West Bengal, after being taken over by the DPS society in 1992 from Nabarun Point English Medium School. Mr Sunil Sinha Roy was the first Principal of the school, who along with the then General Manager of NTPC, FSTPP Mr. G.S.Sohal laid the foundation for this school. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi and offers courses in Commerce and Science. It enrolls over 1,500 students. It imparts knowledge to students from Standard I to Standard XII.

It is one of the oldest CBSE schools of West Bengal and the first school set up by D.P.S. Society in West Bengal. The school has a 5-acre campus at the far end of the township and is well connected to the nearby townships. The NTPC management provides school buses without any charges for all its employees' children. The Farakka Barrage Project management also provides buses for commuting likewise.

There is a basketball court and a large playground (where students play cricket and football). The playground is also used to host the annual sports competition and practices for the March Past ceremony held every year on Independence Day and Republic Day.

The school inherited the Nabarun Point building in 1992, which is characterized by a large open section in the middle where daily morning assemblies are held apart from other functions during the Teacher’s day. There is an auditorium where all the inter house competitions are held. Inter-house competitions are organised and the houses are awarded points based on results achieved.

DPS Garhpar

DPS operates on the franchise model. There are three DPS schools in Garhpar - DPS North, DPS South and DPS East. They are owned mostly by the family of its founder, a leading politician.

DPS Panipat Refinery was established as an English medium co-educational school in the year 1998. It was set up as a joint venture of the DPS Society and IOC, Panipat Refinery primarily to provide education to the employees of Panipat Refinery. The school is located on plush green and peaceful surrounding of the Panipat Refinery Township and is affiliated to the Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE). DPS RK Puram

DPS RK Puram courted controversy when a pornographic MMS video involving two of its class XI students went viral in 2004.^[17] The two students involved were expelled.

DPS Rohini

DPS Rohini was established on 3 July 1995. Initially it was the afternoon shift at DPS Mathura Road.

With 250 students, the school began with borrowed premises of DPS Mathura Road, eight teachers and Rita Sen as the founder headmistress, in July 1995. In April 2000, the school got its own home in Sector-24 Rohini; now it has over 2000 students.

DPS Rourkela

Delhi Public School Rourkela was established in 1993. The principal is Siddarth Rath. DPS Rourkela is in Sundergarh Odisha. It is situated in Sector-14, Rourkela. It has an annual magazine called DIPS LIPS.

DPS Ruby Park, Kolkata

DPS Ruby Park was established in 2003 and is a co-educational school. It is the first DPS in Kolkata. The school is located at Shanti Pally in Kolkata behind Siemens occupies two campuses. DPS Junior Wing and DPS Senior Wing is from class II which is in Kasba Rathtala.^[45]

DPS Servodaya Nagar

Delhi Public School Servodaya Nagar was established in the year 1997. Delhi Public School, Srinagar is the first private school affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. The school is guided by the D.P. The school has a library in two floors which has more than 25,000 books.

DPS, Srinagar has classes from L.K.G. to 12th. Each classes has eight sections from A to H. The school has a ground where children play. There are around 100 buses that ply to the remotest areas of the valley.

Delhi Public School, Udaipur, is located a short distance from Udaipur City centre amidst the Aravali hills. The school offers day boarding and full boarding facilities in a 22-acre (89,000 m²) campus. It was established on 25 April 2007.

DPS Vadodara

The foundations of Delhi Public School, Vindhyanagar were laid in 1986 in collaboration with the public sector enterprise NTPC Ltd.
