The Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram AC Superfast Express announced in 2011-12 Railway Budget by Mamata Banerjee (Minister of Railways) connecting Chennai (MAS) to Thiruvananthapuram (TVC).
The Train was first flagged off on 15 December 2012 by Minister of State, Mr Shashi Tharoor.
The train which was initially a non-stop duronto has been converted to an AC Superfast Express with effect from 22.11.2013, with stoppages at Ernakulam Junction and Kollam Junction. An additional stoppage at Alleppey was announced with effect from Dec 25th 2013.

This train is the fastest train along the Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram route completing the 909 km journey in just 13 hours at a rate of 70 km/hour. It is a much faster alternative for travel when compared with the 12623 Thiruvananthapuram Mail (16 hours) or 16723 Ananthapuri Express (16 and 1/2 hours). This train also holds the record of being the fastest train between Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam covering the two cities in 3 hours and 5 minutes. From mid 2016, additional stoppages have been scheduled at Salem, Erode, Coimbatore, Palakkad and Thrissur stations in a bid to increase patronage.
