Actinobaculum is a genus in the phylum Actinobacteria (Bacteria).[1]
Etymology
The name Actinobaculum derives from Greek noun aktis, aktinos ἀκτίς, ἀκτῖνος', a beam; Latin baculum, rod, stick; .[2]
Species
The genus contains four species (including basonyms and synonyms), namely[2]
- A. massiliense (corrig. Greub and Raoult 2006; Latin massiliense, of or pertaining to Massilia, the Latin name of Marseille, where the organism was isolated.)[3]
- A. schaalii (Lawson et al. 1997, ; New Latin schaalii, of Schaal, to honor Klaus P. Schaal, contemporary German microbiologist, for his contributions to actinomycete microbiology.)[4]
- A. suis ( (Wegienek and Reddy 1982) Lawson et al. 1997, (Type species of the genus); Latin suis, of a hog, of a pig)[4]
- A. urinale (Hall et al. 2003; Latin urinale, of or belonging to urine)[5]
