Thomas "Tom" Davies (born 30 June 1998) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Premier League club Everton and is the captain of England U19. He is an academy graduate of the club and made his senior debut in April 2016, aged 17.

Club career

Everton

Having progressed through Everton's academy, Davies was rewarded with his first professional contract on 30 September 2015.[2] He was handed his Premier League debut by manager Roberto Martínez on 16 April 2016 in a 1–1 draw with Southampton at Goodison Park, entering the field of play as an 83rd-minute substitute for Darron Gibson.[3] On the final day of the Premier League season, following the sacking of Martínez, Davies was handed his first start for Everton by interim manager David Unsworth in a 3–0 win over Norwich.[4] His performance over the course of the 90 minutes earned him the man of the match award.[5]

On 3 August 2016, Davies penned a new five-year contract with Everton, tying him to the club until 2021.[6]

International career

On 7 October 2015, Davies was invited by England manager Roy Hodgson to train with the senior squad following his progression with the under-17 side.[7] Just seven days later he was named captain of the England under-17 team for the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup which took place in Chile.[8]
