This is a list of adult fiction books that topped The New York Times Fiction Best Seller list in 1955.[1]

Auntie Mame, subtitled "An Irreverent Escapade", a book now overshadowed by the successful film, spent five weeks at the top of The New York Times Fiction Best Sellers List in the summer of 1955, part of its remarkable ride of over 2 years in the top 15, including 4 months slowly rising in popularity before hitting No. 1.[2]
