Smolniki [smɔlˈniki] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Rutka-Tartak, within Suwałki County, Podlaskie Voivodeship, in north-eastern Poland, close to the border with Lithuania.[1] It lies approximately 12 kilometres (7 mi) south of Wiżajny, 23 km (14 mi) north of Suwałki, and 132 km (82 mi) north of the regional capital Białystok. [2] Until 31 December 2009 it was a part of gmina Wiżajny.
