It describes itself as a "large, exciting and vibrant school where all children are important and the individual development of each and every child is paramount."[2]

History

Longfleet School was originally located opposite St Mary's Church on Longfleet Road, but moved during the late 20th century to its present site and was constructed by Dean & Dyball. The old school buildings were demolished and are now the car park for St Mary's new church centre building and site of The Adam Practice.

The school remained mainly open during the Teachers' Strike of 17 October 2013.[3]

Character and achievement

Longfleet is a large primary school, the majority of whose pupils are from a White British background and an average number of pupils with Special Educational Needs. The school holds the Artsmark, Sportsmark, School's Environment, Healthy School and Eco School awards.[4]

The school is a member of the Poole Teaching School Alliance.[5]

Ethos

The school is "very proud of [its] strong links with St Mary's Church and the church ethos runs clearly through the life of the school".[6]
