• Honour Among Thieves by Jeffrey Archer (1993): On July 4, 1993, after Iraq's defeat by the United States in the Gulf War, Saddam Hussein plots to burn the American Declaration of Independence in full view of the world's media to shame the Americans.
• About a Boy (1998) by Nick Hornby is set in London in 1993.
• Welcome to Higby (2002) by Mark Dunn is set in the fictional titular Mississippi town during the Labor Day Weekend of 1993.
• Skim (2008) by Mariko Tamaki is set in a Catholic girls' school in Toronto in 1993. The titular character is a Goth who practises Wicca.

• Star Trek: The Original Series (1967): The episode 'Space Seed' is partly set in 1993, when the period known as the 'Eugenics Wars' began.
