Lancaster County Christian School

Lancaster County Christian School (LCCS) is a private, interdenominational school in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 2010 by a group of parents who desired for their children to have a Christian education. The Lancaster Christian School (founded in 1954) officially merged with Living Word Academy (founded in 1981) in the summer of 2010. The two became Lancaster County Christian School with a high school and elementary campus in Leola and a middle school and University-Model School elementary campus on Lampeter Road in Lancaster.^[2]

Lancaster County Christian School's faith-based curriculum includes the inerrancy of the Bible, the triune nature of God, creationism, the divinity and virgin birth of Jesus Christ, a sola fide soteriology, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.^[3]

Athletics

The athletic teams of Lancaster County Christian School are alliteratively nicknamed as the "Lions." The official colors are blue and white, with the uniforms rendered in various shades of blue with minor silver or black accents. In 2010, the boys varsity soccer team won the first CCAC championship in the school's short history. They also received a two seed in the district tournament. In 2011, the boys baseball team won the school's first CCAC championship and qualified for districts. In 2011, the boys soccer team was the runner-up in the CCAC playoffs, having lost to Covenant Christian School in the championship game. The 2011-12 boys basketball team won the school's first CCAC championship and qualified for districts. The 2012 boys baseball team defeated Berks Christian School in the CCAC championship game, claiming the championship banner for a second consecutive time. The team went into the PIAA District III playoffs as the #1 seed. The Lions advanced to and won the district championship game, defeating Camp Hill High School. The Lions then defeated Lackawana Trail High School in the first round of Class A state playoffs and advanced to the quarterfinal game, where they played Girard Academic Music Program High School, winning with a 6-1 victory. They now will advance to the semifinal game to be played on Monday, June 11 (location and team TBD).

The Lions compete in the Commonwealth Christian Athletic Conference of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association. Lancaster County Christian School offers basketball, field hockey, and soccer for middle school girls; baseball, basketball, and soccer for middle school boys; basketball, lacrosse, soccer, and golf for high school girls; and baseball, basketball, soccer, and golf for high school boys. Additionally, the school has an agreement with J. P. McCaskey High School that allows Lancaster Christian students to compete in its field hockey, wrestling, cross country, track and field, and tennis teams.^[4]

Student Life Center

Lancaster Christian School hired Cornerstone Design Architects to build the multi-purpose Student Life Center in 2002. The structure was constructed between March and December 2004. With 19,095 square feet (1,774.0 m²), its design includes a hardwood maple floor, two basketball/volleyball courts, a stage, retractable bleachers for 300 spectators, and light/audio equipment for theater performances. The total cost of the project was in excess of $7 million.^[5]
