In the Shadow of Women (French: L'Ombre des femmes)[4] is a 2015 French-Swiss drama film directed by Philippe Garrel. It was selected to open the Director's Fortnight section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.[5]

In the Shadow of Women received acclaim from film critics. Review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 91% approval rating, based on 11 reviews, with an average score of 6.9/10.[7] At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the film received an average score of 75, based on 6 reviews.[8] The film magazine Cahiers du cinéma ranked In the Shadow of Women as the third best of 2015.[9]
