The discography of British singer Cliff Richard, who made his professional debut in 1958, consists of forty-five studio albums (43 English, 2 German), seven soundtrack albums, eleven live albums, three stage show cast albums, fifteen mainstream compilation albums, seven box sets, eight gospel compilation albums, forty-six EPs and 146 singles (in the UK, including singles only available via digital download). It also includes numerous budget/mid-price compilation albums, repackaged albums and one remix album. These figures are based on Richard's releases in his native UK plus a small number of new music releases for specific markets such as Germany, France, Japan and the US. There have been many additional compilation albums and singles released outside the UK that are too numerous to include, however some of the more successful or notable singles released outside the UK have been included in the Singles section.

In the UK, Cliff is the most successful British male solo artist of all time.[1] He also has the distinction of being the only artist to have achieved UK number one singles throughout five consecutive decades, in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.[1] Richard has the unique distinction of having a number-one single on the charts with the same song, with "Living Doll" in 1959, and then re-recording with the cast of The Young Ones, three decades later. Richard releases his 102nd album in 2016, titled Just . . . Fabulous Rock 'n' Roll, a counterpart follow up to his previous album, and includes a duet with Elvis Presley.

Albums

Richard's debut album Cliff was recorded live at Abbey Road Studios before a small invited audience. It was released in April 1959 and reached No. 4 on the UK Album Chart. It is listed under Live albums.

Notes:

  • A ^ The British Disc music paper awarded silver discs (for UK sales of 250,000) and gold discs (for UK sales of 1,000,000) from 1959 until 1973. Awards were based on sales figures submitted by record companies. In 1973, it was superseded by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) setting up an 'official' certification award system.[64]
  • B ^ "Schoolboy Crush" was the original A-side and "Move It" the original B-side.
  • C ^ Before the Netherlands official charts began in 1965, there were numerous independent charts. In 1959, when "Living Doll" was charting, there were four singles charts. "Living Doll" hit number one in the Songwereld monthly top ten chart for October, number 2 on the Muziek Express and Elsevier charts, and number 3 on the Muziek Parade chart.[75]

  77. The official Irish charts listed "It'll Be Me" for one week only, at number 10, in its inaugural publication, 10 October 1962. Because this is after it had peaked in the existing charts, the chart peak at number 2 in the Evening Herald (1 week, 21 September) and Billboard (2 weeks), has been used instead. Note, the Billboard publication lags 3 or 4 weeks behind the Irish official chart (probably reasonable in 1962).Nielsen Business Media, Inc. (20 October 1962). Billboard. Nielsen Business Media, Inc.
