Greig City Academy is a mixed-sex secondary school in the London borough of Haringey. Children from across the borough attend this popular comprehensive school which has around 1,000 pupils on its roll.

Class sizes are small with a maximum of 25 pupils per class - http://www.greigcityacademy.co.uk/43/introduction. The Academy has a thriving Sixth Form and useful links to universities.

Its outdoor education programme is supported by the Greig Trust. The programme enables students across the school to experience activities such as abseiling, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, rock climbing and much more. In particular, the school has its own fleet of seven boats, one of which is moored in Poole harbour. The school intends to compete in the 2017 Fashnet Race. @GCASailingClub

The school has a strong STEM offering. In 2015 and 2016, teams of pupils won the UK Robotics Championships and went forward to compete in the World Championships, which were held in Kentucky both years. The school is working with associated primary schools to improve STEM across Haringey. http://www.greigcityacademy.co.uk/130/stem-robotics.

In another STEM project, GCA was one of 10 schools selected to run the Falcon Initiative project (sponsored by the Royal Aeronautical Society and Boeing) - to design and build a fully functional flight training simulator for under £500. The project will run until June 2017. http://aerosociety.com/Careers-Education/Falcon-Initiative http://www.greigcityacademy.co.uk/139/stem-rasboeing-falcon-initiative

There are more than 30 extra-curricular clubs at the school.

The school introduced a new uniform in September 2016, with a grey jumper replacing the previous blue jumper. The Greig Trust and the Church of England sponsor the Academy.[1] David Greig, a successful local businessman, founded the Greig Trust in memory of his mother in 1949.

Achievements

Greig City Academy is the only state school in Haringey to offer a classics course and a Latin GCSE. http://gcaclassicsclub.blogspot.co.uk/ The school is an affiliated school of the UK-wide Arkwright Scholarships and its students regularly secure the prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarships. The school is one of the best in the country for basketball. The U13, U15 and U18 girls took gold in the Basketball England National Schools Finals in 2015 while the U13 boys took silver and the U14 and U16 girls took bronze. The U17 boys were the 2015 international Blackpool Cup football winners.
