Gordon John Lindhurst MSP is a British politician who is a Scottish Conservative and Unionist Member of Scottish Parliament for the Lothian region. He was first elected at the Scottish Parliament election, 2016.
Lindhurst is an advocate from Edinburgh. He studied at Edinburgh University and completed his legal training with an Edinburgh law firm. He has also completed a master's degree in European law at Heidelberg University in Germany. Lindhurst supports a number of local Edinburgh charities and has also worked in central Romania with a locally based charity there which provides education and support for disadvantaged children.
Lindhurst was the Conservative candidate for Linlithgow in the 1999 and 2003 Scottish Parliament elections, where he was not elected having finished third both times. He also stood the in 2001 general election in Linlithgow finishing third. Lindhurst stood again in Linlithgow in the 2005 by-election where he came fourth. In the United Kingdom general election, 2015 he stood as a candidate in Edinburgh South West where he finished third, failing to be elected.
In Scottish Parliament election, 2016 he stood for the Edinburgh Pentlands constituency, finishing in second place. Having missed out in the constituency section, he was instead elected for the Lothian regional list.
Lindhurst is the Scottish Conservative spokesperson for legal affairs. He is also the convenor of the Economy, Jobs and Fair Work Committee and a member of the Social Security Committee in the Scottish Parliament.
