Cape Verdean local elections, 2004

Local elections were held in Cape Verde in mid-2004. The Movement for Democracy (MpD) won in the muncipalities of Boa Vista, Paul, Porto Novo, São Domingos and Tarrafal, the MpD-affiliated Ribeira Grande Democratic Group (GDRG) won in Ribeira Grande, while the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV) won in the municipalities of Mosteiros, Praia the capital, Santa Catarina do Fogo and São Filipe

They were the last elections with 18 municipalities, as four new municipalities were created before the 2008 elections; São Nicolau was split into the municipalities of Ribeira Brava and Tarrafal de São Nicolau.
