Bidhannagar subdivision is a subdivision of the North 24 Parganas district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of all wards of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation ,Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority (NDITA) and 10 wards (Lake Town area) of South Dum Dum Municipality and has a total population of about 3 lakh. The subdivision has its headquarters at Bidhannagar located at Administrative Building, DJ-4, Sector II, Salt Lake City. The subdivision is currently headed by Shri Pawan Kadyan, IAS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate & Sub-Divisional Officer, Bidhannagar who took charge in September 2014. Recently, in June 2015, Bidhannagar Municipality has become part of a larger Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation which includes the adjacent areas of Rajarhat Gopalpur Municipality and Mahishbathan II Gram Panchayat. This new Corporation is headed by Shri Sabyasachi Dutta as the Mayor of the Municipal Corporation. The Corporation had its first elections in October 2015, electing its first Board of Councillors.

Area

Bidhannagar municipality, NDITA and Lake Town are the only urban areas under this subdivision.[1] There is no rural area under this subdivision.[2] East Bidhannagar Police Station (PS), North Bidhannagar PS, South Bidhannagar PS, Electronic City PS, and Lake Town PS (and Bhangar police stations) serve the Bidhhannagar subdivision. There has been some demand of making the subdivision coterminus with the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate for public convenience.[1]

Legislative segments

As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in West Bengal, the Bidhannagar municipality will be part of the area defining the Bidhannagar assembly constituency of West Bengal. This constituency will be an assembly segment of the Barasat (Lok Sabha constituency).[3]

Healthcare

Bidhannagar subdivision also has a few very renowned Government & private hospitals like Anandalok Hospital, Bidhannagar Sub Divisional Hospital, Kolkata Heart Research Institute, Columbia-Asia, AMRI Hospital, etc. The Apollo Gleneagles Hospital is also located on its peripheral boundary.
