Acle Academy (formerly known as Acle High School) is a secondary school which is located in Acle, Norfolk, England. The academy status school has 700 pupils, ranging in age from 11–16 years old. The head teacher is Helen Watts (2016). In September 2016, the school joined The Wensum Trust, under the guidance of executive head Gerry Batty.
There are five year groups at Acle Academy, from Year 7 to Year 11. It is one of the main feeder schools for East Norfolk Sixth Form College, in Gorleston, Paston College, in North Walsham, amongst others.
Performance
The January 2016, Ofsted report found Acle Academy to be a "Inadequate"[1] in all areas. The school has seen a steady decline in its performance since 2010 and has also seen a change in leadership four times since the spring term of 2015. Following the 2016 Ofsted report, the academy has been put on "special measures".
In 2010, 57% of pupils achieved 5 or more GCSEs at grades A* to C, including English and Maths; 56% of boys and 58% of girls did so. 95.4% of pupils in 2010 achieved at least one GCSE at A* to C
Extracurricular
Acle Academy arranges for special talks that are open to the public, and works closely with village groups, such as the, Acle Community Archive Group, Acle Archaeology Project and Acle Youth Club. The school works in partnership with its feeder schools, partner high schools, local businesses and other learning providers. Family learning is promoted by running weekend events such as the Science Day.
