The 2015-16 Santo Antão Island League (South) season was the competition of the second-tier football in southern (and the western) part the island of Santo Antão, Cape Verde. Its started on 9 January 2015 and finished on 23 April 2016. The tournament was organized by the Santo Antão North Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de Zona Sul do Santo Antão, ARFZSSA).[1] Académica do Porto Novo won the 10th title and their 11th overall and finished with 33 points and participated in the 2016 Cape Verdean Football Championships in mid May.\.[2] The match dates were set on December 2, 2015.[3]

Académica do Porto Novo was again the defending team of the title. A total of 7 clubs participated in the competition, 2 did not participated and were Sanjoanense and Santo André, Fiorentina returned to the competition.[3] their first match of the season was against Lajedos[4] A total of 166 goals were scored in the season, 30 more than last season. Académica lead the season for the entire season. The highest scoring match was Académica defeating Sporting 11-0 on April 16 and made it the club's highest scoring match. For the first time in a few seasons, Académica Porto Novo suffered a loss at the regionals, the club lost to her second rival Marítimo 2-1 in the final match of the season on April 23 but in the number of home wins, it still holds the record. As Académica scored 60 goals and Marítimo scored 34, Académica won their sixth consecutive title and any of the island leagues, other clubs who won six consecutive were CS Mindelense of São Vicente and Botafogo of Fogo. Académica's highest goal scoring was a club record and amounted to slightly more than 36% of the regional goal totals.

On the opposites, Sporting Porto Novo, once a great club with moderate successes suffered in the season, the club had three points and just a win, it had 11 losses, scored only 8 goals and conceded 46 goals, one of the worst that the club had, fewer than the later entered clubs of Lagedos and Inter and the newly entered club of Tarrafal Monte Trigo, the club was in last position the entire season.

The first three weeks had two rounds a week up to January 31. A rest occurred until February 13 as the Porto Novo Cup and the single island cup competitions were taking place. A second one occurred from the 14 to the 27 of the same month. Rounds 10 and 11 were held on March 5 and lasted longer before Round 9 started due to unknown reasons, the other two were onMarch 12 and 13 were the dates of Round 9, Round 10 continued with two matches on March 19 and was later finished, this was the first time that two rounds were played on the same day and also the same club Marítimo, the positions were not put until March 19. Round 11 continued until March 30 (on a weekday schedule) with two additional matches. The subregional and the regional cup were taking place in mid to late March, the championship had a week rest before its resumed for the remainder of the season on a weekend schedule on April 9.
