Zeek is an online gift card and voucher marketplace founded in 2013 and based in Tel Aviv, Israel.[1][2] The company allows consumers to buy cards and vouchers at discounted rates compared to their face value.[3][4] Zeek profits on commissions that are charged to sellers for each transaction.[5][6] In July 2016, Zeek had 35 employees.[2]

The company's operations involve consumers purchasing and selling store credits amongst one another, via the uploading of scans of credits and gift cards to the company's online platform.[5][7] The company's web site and mobile app are used by both buyers and sellers for voucher transactions.[8]

History

Zeek was established by Daniel Zelkind, Itay Erel, Ziv Isaiah[2] and Uri Levine as an investor.[9] The company originally started operating in Tel Aviv, Israel.[6][10] In September 2014, they extended their technologies and marketplace to include a desktop application in the United Kingdom.[11] Zeek commenced with operations in the UK in December 2014.[12] In December 2014, co-founder Daniel Zelkind stated that the mobile app had received 200,000 downloads.[13]

In May 2015 Zeek secured $3 million in series A funding from Blumberg Capital and Qualcomm.[14] In July 2016 the company managed to secure a $9.5 million successful round B funding led by Blumberg Capital and Qualcomm[6] in order to further expand the company's market presence in the UK market.[15]
