Yung Rich Nation^[1] is the debut studio album by American hip hop trio Migos. It was released on July 31, 2015,^[2] by 300 Entertainment, Quality Control Music and Atlantic Records. The album features a lone guest appearances from an American recording artists Chris Brown and Young Thug; as well as these several producers that was handled such as Zaytoven, Honorable C.N.O.T.E. and Murda Beatz, among others.

Background

The members of the group consisting by Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff, collectively known as Migos, are an Atlanta-based southern hip hop trio that were formed back in 2011. As the southern hip hop group, they have been putting the releases of nine mixtapes, which gained them a mass popularity at the time. On June 13, 2013, Migos released their first installment of the Y.R.N. series, titled Y.R.N. (Young Rich Niggas). On April 18, 2015, all three members were arrested, during their performance at Georgia Southern University, in which all three were facing felony gun and drug charges.^[3] Quavo and Takeoff were released on $10,000 bond, while Offset was still remained in custody, forcing Migos to cancel their promotional tour that would be assured that the Y.R.N.: Tha Album would be released on the schedule date of June 16, 2015.^[4][5] However, the album has eventually been pushed back to the official date of July 31, 2015.^[6] The group announced that they changed the album title, called Yung Rich Nation, along with the change to the album cover artwork as well.^[7]

Promotion

In July 2015, Migos announced that they will be going on the Yung Rich Nation Tour, with OG Maco.^[8]

Singles

On February 5, 2015, Migos released the album's first single, called "One Time". The song was produced by Deko.^[9] On March 23, 2015, the trio released a music video for the single, as a part of the cross-promotion with the YouTube Music Awards.^[10]

Yung Rich Nation received generally positive reviews from music critics. At Metacritic the album received an overall score of 67 out of 100, based on 9 reviews, indicating generally favorable reviews.

Accolades

Commercial performance

The album sold over 14,500 copies in its first week.^[23] It was the eleventh highest selling album in the United States in its debut week.^[24] The album debuted at number 17 on the US Billboard 200,^[25] as far as peaking at number 5 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums^[26] and number 3 on the Top Rap Albums charts.
