Xu Jilin(Chinese: 许纪霖; pinyin: Xú Jìlín) is a historical professor at East China Normal University. He's also a writer and public intellectual.

Biography

Xu jilin was born in Shanghai, China in 1957. Because of a famous Chinese policital campaign,called " Great Cultural Revolution",he had to drop school

and became a librarian .After that event, he dicided to finish his studying and passed the college entrance exam. Finally,he became a member of East China Normal University learn policy.When he graduated as a Bachelor of Laws in 1982,he stay at school,becoming a lecturer.

During1997 to2003, he has visited many universities as a visiting professor or visiting scholar, such as Harvard-Yenching Institute's senior visiting scholar,National University of Singapore's senior visiting scholar,University of Tokyo's visiting Professor.In 2003, he came back and became East China Normal University of East China Normal University.

His major is Chinese modoern history of though and the intellectual of China in 20 century ,culture and thoughs of Contemporary China, the culture of Shanghai.

Xu 's article aboue the analysis of "SARA" in 2003 and the review aboue Taiwan's election has made a great impression to the public.

In 2005, encyclopaedia of Contemporary Chinese culture gives an individual draft to"Xu Jilin"[1]

In 2006, The China Quarterly, Dr.Cheek published 2 research papers by Xu.[2]
