XEFE-TDT is a Televisa local television station in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. The channel can also be seen in the Laredo, Texas market. In addition to local news and programming, XEFE also airs a selection of programming from Televisa's FOROtv, Canal 5 and GalaTV networks. XEFE slogan is Tu Canal Familiar (Your Family Channel). XEFE was the last television station in the Laredo – Nuevo Laredo area not to broadcast digitally. It began broadcasting in digital signal in March 2014.

History

XEFE-TV signed on channel 2 October 1, 1962, making it the first television station in Nuevo Laredo and second in the Laredo – Nuevo Laredo area after KGNS, which first went on the air January 7, 1956. In February 2013, XEFE received authorization from COFETEL to broadcast in digital on channel 17.1.[2] XEFE began broadcasting in digital in March 2014.

Digital television

The station's digital signal is multiplexed. XEFE began broadcasting in digital on March 2014, making it the last television station in the Laredo - Nuevo Laredo area to broadcast in digital, just ten months before analog shutoff in the Nuevo Laredo area in January 2015. Its main channel 2.1 contains XEFE's programming while its two subchannels are shown as blank.

Programming

XEFE broadcasts from 6 AM to 12:30 AM. Programming on weekdays originates from FOROtv during morning hours, Canal 5 afternoons, and GalaTV during the evening. On Saturdays, the station broadcasts a mix of local and Canal 5 programming. On Sundays XEFE broadcasts movies from Canal 5 all day.[3]
