"With a Girl like You" is a song released by the English rock band the Troggs, written by Reg Presley and produced by Larry Page.[3] The song reached number one in the UK Singles Chart on 4 August 1966, where it remained for two weeks.[4][5]

Song profile

The song is featured, uncut, in a school dance scene from the 1991 Nicole Kidman/ Noah Taylor movie, Flirting. It is also in the films and/or soundtracks for the movies, Shine, The Good Night, and The Boat That Rocked.

The Osiris Shoes video "Feed the Need" featured the "With a Girl Like You" (James Brockman's section).

Part of the song was featured in a trailer for the 2013 film Warm Bodies.[6]

The song was featured at the end of CSI: NY Season 9 episode called "The Real McCoy", when Adam and his girlfriend are dancing.

The song was featured on Girls season 1 episode, "Vagina Panic".

Cover versions

In 1978, Swedish singer Harpo released a cover version as a single. Although released all over Europe, it was not a hit.

Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio recorded a cover version of "With a Girl Like You" for the 2009 Red Hot compilation album, Dark Was the Night.

In 1986, Italo disco singer Chriss recorded a cover version entitled "With a Boy Like You". Although it has a typical dance tune, this version also has guitars, making it sound more like a pop-rock song.

Alex Chilton recorded a cover version of "With a Girl Like You" which is included in the 1991 Rhino compilation 19 Years: A Collection of Alex Chilton.

Yo La Tengo / Condo Fucks recorded a cover version of "With a Girl Like You" on their covers album Fuckbook.

Thao & The Get Down Stay Down covered the song on the 2013 The Feeling Kind EP.

Danzig covered the song on the 2015 album Skeletons.
