Wicomico Youth and Civic Center is a multi-purpose arena located in Salisbury, Maryland. It contains 28,000 square feet (2,600 m2) of space and can seat 2,500 for banquets, 3,000 for theater concerts and stage shows, 6,000 for end-stage concerts, 6,747 for center-stage concerts, boxing and wrestling, 4,157 for ice events, and 5,130 for basketball. It features a 42-foot (13 m)-high ceiling. The arena opened in 1980 and replaced an auditorium which had opened in 1950 and had burned down in 1977.

Attached to the arena are three meeting rooms totaling 18,960 square feet (1,761 m2) of space. The largest, the Midway can accommodate 1,000 as a theater and has a 24-foot (7 m)-by-50-foot stage.

In addition to the above events, the Civic Center can and does also accommodate conventions, trade shows, bingo, flea markets, indoor track meets, and monster truck rallies.

Renovations

Renovations took place between 2007 and 2013. These renovations have included the upgrading of the lighting and energy systems, repairs to the block wall at the arena, folding chair replacement, stage curtain replacement, restoration of the arena lobby, the arena roof rehabilitation, repainting of one of the meeting rooms and hallways, upgrades to the sound system including rehanging of the arena speakers, a new scoreboard system (installed in 2009-10 and upgraded in 2011-12), replacement of 58 escalator steps, new ceiling tiles in one hallway, door replacement, and new stage risers.[1]
