Born Derby, United Kingdom
Occupation Nightclub DJ

Wayne Tunnicliffe (known as Wayne Allen) is a British nightclub DJ and previously a radio presenter.

Early career

Wayne was born in Derby but moved to Newcastle upon Tyne when he started as a DJ at the Ikon Nightclub (now called Liquid Nightclub) in Newcastle where he worked from 1997 to 2000. Wayne's radio career began after being spotted working at the nightclub by one of the Metro Radio bosses. He helped Metro Radio with their live shows from the club and practised in the off-air studios while at the station.

Radio career

In March 2007, Wayne moved to TFM Radio in Stockton on Tees. He initially presented the Top Ten at Ten (part of the morning slot from 10am until 2pm) until late in 2009, when he was promoted to presenter of the flagship breakfast programme. He left the station in April 2013.

Other

TFM Radio requested that Wayne use a second name to present the show and, as a tribute to his friend Alan Robson, he chose the stage name Wayne Allen.

Wayne appeared on the Channel 4 daytime cookery TV series Come Dine with Me, where he eventually won the jackpot prize.

In May 2011, Wayne Tunnicliffe confronted a brick-wielding raider outside a northeast pub. Convinced a robbery was about to take place, karate black belt holder Wayne launched himself at the man and used his martial arts training to restrain him, doing so until police arrived at the scene.[1]

2014: Wayne Allen is now a frequent DJ at Newcastle nightclub Flares on a Saturday night from 9pm till 2am, and sometimes does Popworld on a Friday night giving away numerous goodies through the night.
