The Wayne County Office of the Sheriff is a full-service law enforcement agency servicing the citizens of Wayne County, New York. The Office has a strength of approximately 170 employees.

History

Organization

The Sheriff's Office has three divisions: Administrative, Corrections, and Police Services. The Court Security Unit is responsible to maintain the peace and dignity of the County Court. Located in the Hall of Justice building, Court Security personnel maintain vigilance over visitors entering the building and those attending courtroom sessions.[2]

Corrections

The Corrections Division is the largest unit in the Sheriff's Office. The staff of 97 full and part-time employees is responsible for operating the Wayne County Correctional Facility, maintaining the safety and security of the inmates, providing food, clothing, and medical and mental health care.[3]

Police Services

The law enforcement arm of the Wayne County Sheriff falls under the general operating title of Police Services, and consists of the Road Patrol, Criminal Investigations and Civil Divisions.[4]
