Wakas Mir (Urdu: وقاص میر), is a Pakistani-born Norwegian radio host best known for his online radio show, Wakas Mir LIVE. He has also been the host for a radio talk show in Oslo, Norway called ApniAwaz Radio. There he provided his services as an anchor hosting shows on social issues that revolved around Asians in Norway.

Biography

Wakas Mir was born in Lahore, Pakistan. He lived in Pakistan until he was 10 years old and then moved to Norway with his mother and grandmother. Mir was artistically inclined from childhood. He studied fine arts and civics at Government College University, Lahore.

Mir dabbled in various careers ranging from British gas agent to web designer at Dotmusic. He currently works as a project manager for a media company in Oslo, Norway. He also hosts the Wakas Mir Live show broadcast through CrazeFM.

Poetic activities

Wakas also explored his interests in poetry and has written hundreds of poems in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. He writes on a variety of subjects ranging from life to emotions, love, relationships and positivity. While his English poems have already been published in a collection, his Urdu poems are now being collected to be published.[1]

Other fields

He has also been active in online marketing.[2] The various methods of replicating the radio streams on the biggest Asian portals gained his website, CrazeFM,[3] lots of exposure. His designing skills also came into use in this site. All these that won him the Best and most Popular TV / Radio site.[4] On 26 July 2011, Wakas Mir, initiated one of the largest Facebook groups and was on national TV to talk about his campaign for peace. His group resulted in a national peace march that brought out almost a million people on the roads of Norway.[5]

Wakas normally brings up topics in his shows that cause a stir. He has also interviewed Bollywood stars, such as Sunil Shetty, Sonu Nigam, Kumar Sanu, Babul Supriyo, Sukhwinder Singh, and many Pakistani celebrities including Abrar ul Haq, Faakhir Mehmood and Haroon from Awaz and many Zee TV, Sony Entertainment Television Asia and Star Plus celebrities, mostly those in the leading roles like Mohammad Iqbal Khan of the 'Angad' Fame Hiten Tejwani of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Mona Singh from Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, and television anchor Manav Gohil.

Achievements

99.3 FM

Wakas is currently presenting a program on 99.3 FM which can be heard in Oslo and online. The program focuses on issues that Muslims and Pakistanis face in Norway.

Personal life

Wakas' mother died of cancer in 2009. He married in 2010 and resides in Oslo with his family. Wakas closed down his Online Radio station, CrazeFM.com due to some other ventures and lack of time. At the moment of shutting down crazefm it was one of the most visited Asian radios on the web.
