Waite Islands

Waite Islands (72°44′S 103°40′W / 72.733°S 103.667°W / -72.733; -103.667Coordinates: 72°44′S 103°40′W / 72.733°S 103.667°W / -72.733; -103.667) is a group of small islands in Amundsen Sea, lying 6 nautical miles (11 km) west of Cape Waite, the northwest extremity of King Peninsula. Mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1960-66. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for their proximity to Cape Waite.
