WMIA (1070 AM) is a radio station licensed to serve Arecibo, Puerto Rico. WMIA is the official station of the Camarero Radio Network. The station is owned by Abacoa Radio Corporation.[1] It airs a News/Talk format.[2]

The station was assigned the WMIA call letters by the Federal Communications Commission.[3]

Ownership

WMIA is owned and operated by Abacoa Radio Corporation, a Puerto Rican company, since the late 1950s. Their offices are located at 1168 Miramar Avenue Arecibo, Puerto Rico. You can reach them at 787-878-1275.

In December 2006, Aerco Broadcasting Corp. (Angel O. Roman-Lopez, president/secretary) reached an agreement to purchase WMIA from Abacoa Radio Corp. (Lirio Pirallo Rivera, president) for a reported sale price of $900,000. After several delays due to a complicated series of transactions involving other stations and Aerco Broadcasting, on January 18, 2008 Abacoa Radio filed a notice of non-consummation with the FCC officially terminating their application to transfer the broadcast license.
