WHNZ (1250 AM, "Impact Radio") is an American radio station licensed to serve Tampa, Florida, USA. The station's broadcast license is held by Citicasters Licenses, Inc. WHNZ is one of the eight stations in the Tampa Bay market owned by iHeartMedia, Inc.. The station's studios are located in South Tampa and the transmitter site is in Town 'n' Country.

This station, founded in 1922, was assigned the call sign "WHNZ" by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on March 7, 2000.[1]

Programming

This station broadcasts a news/talk format with an emphasis on business to the greater Tampa Bay Area.[2] Most of the station's programming is either syndicated or brokered time.

WHNZ was the flagship station of the Tampa Bay Rays from 2005 to 2008. As of 2011, WHNZ airs select games or events moved from WDAE or WFLA due to conflicts.
