WHNR (1360 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Regional Mexican format. Licensed to Cypress Gardens, Florida, USA, the station serves the Lakeland/Winter Haven Arbitron market. The station is currently owned by Thomas and Carol Saunders, through licensee Catco Communications, LLC.[1]

History

The station went on the air in 1958 as WINT playing a top 40 format. In 1972 the station changed its calsign to WZNG playing an Oldies format. On 1983-11-02, the station changed callsign to WYXY playing an Adult Contemporary format. On 1990-03-16, the station changed its call sign to the current WHNR playing a mix of Standards/Big Band-era and light adult contemporary music. The station was silent for a time in 1995 before moving to an Urban contemporary format under the branding "Power 1360, the Soul of Central Florida". In 1996, the station moved to the current Regional Mexican format under the "La Poderosa" branding.[2]

In 2010, the station has begun to air classic country from 7PM to 6AM.[3]
