Vehicle registration plates of Nevada

The U.S. state of Nevada first required its residents to register their motor vehicles and display license plates in 1910. Plates are currently issued by the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Passenger baseplates 1933 to present

In 1956, the U.S. states and Canadian provinces came to an agreement with the Automobile Manufacturers Association that fixed the size for license plates for vehicles, except those for motorcycles, at six inches in height by twelve inches in width, with standardized mounting holes. The 1956 (expired June 30, 1957) issue was the first Nevada license plate that fully complied with these standards: the 1955 (expired June 30, 1956) issue was six inches in height by twelve inches in width, but had non-standard mounting holes.
