His versatility and natural flair for acting brought him tremendous success and recognition in the local theatre circuit. He completed his education in 2010 and moved to Mumbai in 2011, to pursue a career in films.[2]

Career

Tatwawdi started his career with television and made his Marathi film debut in 2014 with Santosh Manjrekar's Surajya. The film did moderate business at the box office but Tatwawdi's mature portrayal of a sensitive, young professional fighting for a social cause garnered critical acclaim. His first release in 2015 was the romantic feature Coffee Ani Barach Kahi alongside Prarthana Behere. The film emerged as a commercial and critical success, and Tatwawdi's performance was widely appreciated. His second release in 2015 was the Hindi adult comedy Hunterrr which also marked his Bollywood debut. Tatwawdi essayed a powerful supporting role which earned him mention in Filmfare magazine. He closed the year with another strong supporting performance as Chimaji Appa, in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani. Critics were unanimous in their praise with Rajeev Masand(CNN IBN) noting “Vaibhav Tatwawdi makes a big impression as Bajirao’s brother Chimaji” and Taran Adarsh commenting “ The supporting cast is top notch. Vaibbhav Tatwawdi SUPERB”

In 2016 Tatwawdi changed gears with his first action packed role in Mr. and Mrs. Sadachari. The film did not fare well at the box office. However, it garnered him recognition for versatility and proved his potential to pull off a mainstream masala entertainer. FilmCompanion summed it up as "A showreel for Vaibhav Tatwawdi's career". He kept up his experiments with the role of a con man in his next release – the comedy film Cheater. Avadhoot Gupte’s Kanha is his latest release. The film centers around the politics of the Dahi Handi festival celebrated widely in Maharashtra and sees Tatwawdi essay the nuanced role of a naive but determined Govinda caught in a web of exploitation and lies. Taran Adarsh called the film memorable and recognized the lead performances as "pitch perfect" and "winsome". The film is currently in its 3rd week of business and going strong at the box office.
