The University of South Florida Tampa Library is the main research library for the University of South Florida. The Tampa Library is located at

The Tampa Library provides access to over 1.3 million physical books.[1] The library also provides access to electronic resources. The Tampa Library is a seven story building.[2] The library has more then 2 million visitors each year.[3]

History

The University of South Florida was founded in 1956 but the library was not completeAd unBtil 1960.[3]

Areas

Basement

The basement area is a quiet zone. The basement houses "the Federal and State Government Documents print collections, maps, and the Reference Annex".[2] In 2012 the physical print periodicals were moved to the basement as electronic access of periodicals has become more common. A technical services department takes up a large section of the basement.

First Floor

The first floor is a group study area. The first floor houses the learning common study areas, computer work stations, digital media commons, the library services desk, the IT help desk, the Interlibrary Loan department, and a Starbucks.[2]

Second Floor

The second floor is a group study area. The second floor houses the learning commons study areas, the writing studio, the office for undergraduate research, tutoring services and the SMART Lab.[2]

Third Floor

The third floor is a group study area. The third floor houses circulating areas A through K.[2]

Fourth Floor

The fourth floor is a quiet zone. The fourth floor houses circulating areas L through N, the special collections area, the Juvenile Collection, the Classics Collection and the USF Florida Studies Center.[2] The fourth floor also houses the Grace Allen reading room.

Fifth Floor

The fifth floor is a group study area. The fifth floor houses the circulating areas P though Z.[2]

Sixth Floor

The sixth floor is a group study area. The sixth floor house the Information Technology Offices, the computer repair shop, library administration offices, digital collections, and the community engagement offices.[2]

Grace Allen (June 20, 1908 - December 16, 2007)

Grace Allen was wife to John Allen, the first president of the University of South Florida. Grace Allen was 99 years old when she passed away.[4]
