Ulmus 'Fremont' is a little-known American hybrid cultivar of unrecorded provenance, arising from the crossing of Ulmus pumila (female parent) × Ulmus rubra. The cultivar was possibly named for the town in Nebraska which accommodated the Plumfield Nurseries, known to have raised cultivars of the American Elm, U. americana [1] 'Fremont' featured in trials begun in 1954 assessing trees for the USDA North Central 7 region.
