Trace3, Inc. is an Irvine, CA-based IT solutions company that provides cloud computing, big data intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) consulting and data center solutions to businesses. Related services include training and managed services.

History

Trace3 was founded in 2002 by Hayes Drumwright, as an IT systems value added reseller (VAR), and Drumwright served as its first CEO.[2]

By 2013, the company had diversified into big data consulting, cloud computing and data center consulting, and reported sales of $420M.[2]

In March 2014, the company launched a Venture Capital (VC) CIO Briefing program designed to bring its clients together with venture capitalists and technology entrepreneurs, to raise awareness of IT advancements and disruptive technologies that could help their businesses.[3]

In August 2014, the company hired a new CEO, Tyler Beecher, and Drumwright became Executive Chairman.[2]

In 2016, the company reported 2015 sales of $500M, a base of more than 2,000 customers, and 350 employees.[1] That same year, the company reported that it was seeing growth from Internet of Things (IoT) services, which required combined expertise from several of the company's existing practice areas.[4]

Services

Trace3 provides cloud computing, big data services, Internet of Things consulting and data center solutions to US based companies. These solutions include analyzing a business' technology environment, identifying and designing the right information technologies to improve those environments, and training employees to use the solutions. Additional professional services help improve workflows and organizational processes, in part from team assessment services, which ensure that clients have the right people in the right roles. The company's managed services group helps evaluate a client's infrastructure, costs and any other IT-related areas that could be improved.[5]

Data center services also include center migration-related activities, such as planning and implementing migrations while also minimizing risk.[5]

As part of its IT services, the company resells equipment from large computer and information technology vendors, including Cisco, EMC Corporation, NetApp, Symantec and VMWare.[6]

The company offers VC CIO Briefing to ensure their clients are aware of the latest technologies, while simultaneously giving participating VCs input into technology roadmaps, and giving technology companies feedback from customers.[2]

The company also has a research group which studies startups for its clients, tracking around 500 at a time, to help the customers identify and take advantage of new IT innovations.[7]

Recognition

In 2010, Trace3 was recognized by the Orange County (CA) Register as the top small company to work for in the county, based on employee feedback.[8]

In 2013, IT partner Cisco named Trace3 its Innovation Partner of the Year.[2]

Operations

In addition to its Orange County headquarters in Irvine, CA, the company has California sales offices in Los Angeles, Pasadena, San Diego, and San Francisco, and other US sales offices in Denver, Las Vegas, Meridien, Idaho, Phoenix, Salt Lake City and Scotch Plains, New Jersey.[9]
