The 2017 season will be Michael Ryan's second year as manager of the Tipperary senior hurling team.

On 28 November 2016, Pádraic Maher was named as the new captain of the Tipperary Senior hurling team for 2017 with Séamus Callanan named as vice-captain.[1][2]

Intersport/Elverys will continue as sponsors of Tipperary GAA for a third year.

The Tipperary players and management team will travel to Miami in December 2016 for a team holiday. Tipperary again chose not to compete in the Munster Senior Hurling League which will begin in January.[3][4]

Tipperary will be going for a three in a row of Munster titles and will also be defending their All-Ireland title.

2017 squad

On 28 November 2016, a pre-season training squad of 40 players was announced by Michael Ryan for winter training.[5]

2017 National Hurling League

Tipperary will start their league campaign on 11 February against Dublin.

2017 Munster Senior Hurling Championship

Munster Quarter-final

The draw for the championship was held on 13 October 2016 and was broadcast live on RTÉ2.[6] Tipperary were drawn to take on Cork in the Munster Quarter final with the winners playing Waterford in the Semi-Final.
