Thumbay Group, is a UAE - based diversified group, headquartered in DIFC - Dubai, with operations in Education, Healthcare, Medical Research, Diagnostics, Wellness, Retail, Publishing, Real Estate, Hospitality, Trading and Distribution. The group is headed by Thumbay Moideen, who is the Founder and President.[1] Thumbay Group is the owner of Gulf Medical University and chain of GMC Hospitals.

History

In 1997, Thumbay Moideen was the first expatriate to be invited by the Rulers of Ajman to start a medical college in the UAE. Thumbay Group's first venture Gulf Medical University was established to meet the needs of students wishing to pursue higher education in medicine and healthcare sciences.[1] This ultimately became a destination for medical education—not only for local students, but for students from over 70 countries and staff from 22 countries.[1][1][2]

Thumbay Group has set up business operations in 13 sectors over the course of 16 years.[1] Today, the Group has developed interests in education, hospitals, medical centers, diagnostic centers, health clubs, pharmacies, retail outlets, coffee shops, and nutrition stores spread out across the Emirates.[1][2] The organization has more than 2200 employees in the UAE. Presently Thumbay Group is listed among the “Top 100 Companies making an impact in the Arab World” by Forbes Middle East.[3]

    The flagship project of Thumbay Group, the University caters to students of 70 nationalities and offers courses in medicine and healthcare ranging from Bachelor's to Masters, from short term to online courses.

    GMC Hospital is the constituent private teaching university hospitals of Gulf Medical University.
  3. Thumbay hospital
    A chain of 24 hours retail pharmacies catering to the requirement of medical, surgical specialties in the region. Branches of GMC pharmacies are located in Ajman, Fujairah and Sharjah.
  4. Thumbay Labs
    A chain of Diagnostic Laboratories. Branches of GMC Diagnostics are located in Ajman, Fujairah and Sharjah.
  5. Health Communications Division
    The Health Communications Division assists in the delivery of programs (conferences, workshops, symposia and seminars).
