Thornton-Eildon Football Club

The Thornton-Eildon Football Club, nicknamed "The Shinboners" or "Boners" for short, is an Australian rules football team which competes in the Yarra Valley Mountain District Football League.

It was founded in 1920 as the Thornton Football Club and competed in the Alexandra and Yea Football Association. The club participated in that league until 1923 before disbanding for four years. Since reforming in 1928, they have competed in many leagues, including the Upper Goulburn Football Association, Mansfield-Alexandra Football Association, the Waranga North East Football League, the Yarra Valley Mountain District Football League, the Benalla & District Football League and Central Goulburn Football League before rejoining the Yarry Valley league in 2006.

In 1949 the TFC merged with Acheron Valley Football Club to form the Thornton–Acheron Valley Football Club and in 1957 then merged with Eildon Football Club to become what it is known as today.

In the aftermath of the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires that affected many of the team's players and supporters,[1] the club once again disbanded after the 2010 season. A few years later, the club reformed and joined the Yarra Valley League for season 2014.[2]
