'The Wrestling League (aka WWL, Wardust Wrestling League) is a British professional wrestling promotion, based in the East Anglia, dealing primarily in the professional wrestling industry. The Wrestling League was formed in Summer 2014, Mark Young formed the new promotion from Harwich,[1] Essex which continues to run quarterly events in Harwich & Dovercourt. The Wrestling League primary uses British Wrestlers and on occasion uses Wrestlers from the United States but the promotions main focus is that of the British talent.[2]

History

The Wrestling League run its 1st show on Sunday November 23, 2014 Kingsway Brawl in Harwich,[3] Essex this show featured Martin Stone winning and becoming 1st ever Wrestling League Heavyweight Champion defeating Sha Samuels the show also featured Marty Scurll V Will Ospreay which famously featured the scary injury to Ospreay after a failed 630 Splash. Between Kingsway Brawl and the Wrestling League's 2nd show Ha'Penny Havoc Martin Stone had to vacate the Heavyweight Championship since relocating to America full-time in January 2015. Ha'Penny Havoc on Sat Feb 21st 2015 featured a main event of Sha Samuels V Mark Haskins for the vacant Championship, Sha Samuels captured the Title after interference from the SuperVillains Marty Scurll & Jimmy Havoc This show also featured James Castle turning babyface with a victory over teacher Andy Boy Simmonz Castle ended the show chasing off Samuels & the SuperVillains with a Steel Chair. Mayflower Mayhem on Sun May 10, 2015[4] featured a 4 way ladder match to determine the 1st SilverRush briefcase holder, James Castle overcome Psycho Phillips, Ryan Hendricks & Josh Bodom also on this show Sha Samuels retained the Heavyweight Championship V Doug Williams On Sun Sep 13th 2015[5] The Wrestling League presented TOWIE 'The Only Way Is Extreme' the events Extreme main event was James Castle V Jake McCluskey, TOWIE also saw Sha Samuels defeat his Championship challenger Jonny Storm. Stars of the Squared Circle on Sun 11th Oct[6] featured a In-Ring show from the Wrestling League in which James Castle defeated Eric Young in the main event, The Icon Sting headlined the appearances which also included Sunny, Road Warrior Animal & Gail Kim. Sha Samuels V James Castle for the Wrestling League World Championship has been announced for Ha'Penny Havoc 2 on Sun Feb 21st 2016
