The Schools at Somerhill is the title given to a group of schools located in Somerhill House overseen by The Schools at Somerhill Charitable Trust. The three schools are Yardley Court, Derwent Lodge and Somerhill Pre-Prep. Yardley Court is for boys aged 7–13,[1] Derwent Lodge for girls aged 7–11[2] and Somerhill Pre-Prep is a mixed school for aged 3–7 boys and girls.[3]

History

Yardley Court moved to Somerhill House in 1990 to gain much needed expansion room. Derwent Lodge joined them in 1993.[4][5]

Structure

Mr John Coakley is Principal of The Schools at Somerhill and head of Yardley Court. Each of the other schools has its own head; Mrs Sam Michau is the head of Derwent Lodge; Ms Zoe Humm is the head of Somerhill Pre Prep.[6]

Facilities

Shared facilities include a sports hall that was opened on 4 July 2002 by Mrs Godfrey Jayne Hallows Bickmore, new dining room and an indoor swimming pool. Dame Kelly Holmes opened the dining room and swimming pool on the 1 October 2009. A dedicated music block was built in October 2014.
