The Groove is an Indonesian acid jazz band had formed in 1997 in Jakarta. The group's current line-up consists of Rika Roeslan, Reza Hernanza Desiawan, Arie Firman, Ali Akbar Ospari, Arie Arief Indrayana, Deta Gunima, Rejoz The Groove and Destanto Putrandinto. During career in 11 years (as of 2016), The Groove has released five studio albums.

History and career

The band formed in Jakarta in 1997 and began performed in various music event, such as 1997 Jak Jazz Festival. After two years later, the band signed a recording contract with Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia and began working on their debut album with producer Yovie Widianto. Their debut single, "Dahulu", was released in 1999 and became popularity in jazz music industry. In April, their debut album Kuingin was released. However often different vision and mission in music, the band had experienced to changed a personnel, such as bassists Yuke Sampurna has departure to joining a band formed by Ahmad Dhani, Dewa 19. Still same of year, Ari had replacing him as bassists.

After that, The Groove had moved signed to Sony BMG Indonesia and releasing their second album, titled Mata, Hati dan Telinga in (2001) and producing single "Khayalan". After three years later, the band had return to releasing third studio album Hati Hati in 2004. Still same of year, lead vocalist Rieka Roeslan was left to the band, due to want to as solo artist. Despite without vocalist, the band continued to show its existence by releasing the fourth album in 2005 The Best of The Groove with the hits single in radio charts "Katakan Dengan Cinta". The band appointing to singer Cindy Bernadette for filling as vocalist (featured).

The band had rumored that disbanded due to internal issues during five years. In 2010, The Groove had reunited and also marked by the return vocalist Rieka Roeslan, After that, the band released a new single, titled "Let's Go Reunion". And a year later, the band return to releasing single for "Kusambut Padamu".

In 2016, The Groove had began to released fifth album, titled Forever U'll Be Mine, which launched in CD version[1] and also released their biography book, about to their career for 19 years. Still same of year, The Groove was held a collaboration concert with Maliq & D'Essentials, titled D'Essentials of Groove where made by Yovie Widianto' idea.[2] In concert, both of the band singing "Coba Katakan Dengan Cinta". The Groove had elected to performed at the Jazz Gunung in the vicinity of Mount Bromo in East Java.[3]
