Terje Gerotti Simonsen

Terje Gerotti Simonsen (born 23 April 1963 in Kristiansand) is a Norwegian writer and historian of ideas. His graduate thesis from the University of Oslo, a cultural analysis of the influential anthroposophical journal JANUS was in 2001 published as a book with the title JANUS - A Journal and a Time.[1]

Simonsen has worked predominantly with esoteric traditions - hermeticism, occultism, mysticism - and has also published writings related to these topics. Among other things, he has written the essay "In the Beginning is the Relationship" as introduction to the Norwegian release of I and Thou, the main work of the Jewish philosopher Martin Buber, published in the renowned series "The Cultural Library" (2003).[2] He has also written the essay "Enoch - The Forgotten Prophet" as an introduction to the first Norwegian translation of the ancient Jewish pseudepigraphon First Book of Enoch in the series The World's Holy Scriptures (2004).[3]

In 2013 Simonsen published the book Our hidden powers - Telepathy, Clairvoyance and Precognition. This is a historical and scientifically based presentation of various so-called paranormal phenomena, emphasizing PSI. E.g. phenomena such as telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, telekinesis and healing. The book received favorable reviews in several journals and other media, including The Journal of the Norwegian Medical Association (Nr. 7–8 April 2014).[4] The true nature of such phenomena are disputed, whether they are to be understood as being objective (physical) or merely subjective (psychological), but in parapsychology they are often seen as expressions of unexplained powers of the human mind.

Simonsen has received several grants, and is admitted as a member in ESSWE, the European Society for the Study of Western Esotericism.[5]
