The Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) is a private, non-sectarian higher education institution. It was founded in 1962 by Engr. Demetrio A. Quirino Jr. and his wife Dr. Teresita U. Quirino, who shared a vision of education excellence.

T.I.P. is an engineering institution that also offers programs in information technology education, business education, maritime, arts, and teacher education.

Twenty of T.I.P.'s engineering and computing programs are accredited by the U.S.-based ABET, the gold standard in engineering and computing education. Its computing programs are also accredited by the Seoul Accord.

T.I.P.'s strength is anchored in its commitment to provide world-class, best-value education that is deeply rooted in excellence and service to the nation, while upholding its mission of empowering the Filipino youth towards national development through technological education.

The school has two campuses, T.I.P. Manila and T.I.P. Quezon City, and is headed by its third president, Dr. Elizabeth Quirino-Lahoz.

International academic accreditations

ABET

To date, T.I.P. holds the distinction of being the only educational institution in the country to offer 20 engineering and computing programs accredited by ABET.

Seoul Accord

T.I.P.'s Computer Science, Information Systems, and Information Technology programs are among the first in the country to be recognized by the Seoul Accord,^[1] the international authority on quality assurance for education in the computing and IT-related professions.

Local accreditations

In April 2016, T.I.P. Manila and T.I.P. Quezon City were granted Autonomous Status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED),^[2] the highest possible award for a higher education institution, in recognition of T.I.P.'s exemplary performance in the provision of quality higher education, research, and extension work.

The school's programs are also accredited locally by the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP) Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA),^[3] the Philippine Technological Council (PTC),^[4] and the Philippine Computer Society (PCS) Information and Computing Accreditation Board (PICAB).^[5]

Other recognitions

The T.I.P. Manila and Quezon City Career Centers were identified by the United States Agency for International Development – Science, Technology, Research, and Innovation for Development (USAID STRIDE) to be developed as model career centers patterned after those found in the United States.

The Gawad Parangal Committee of Quezon City selected T.I.P. "as one of Quezon City’s Most Outstanding Institutions" to receive the city’s highest award of honor and recognition – the Manuel L. Quezon Gawad Parangal Award for 2015.

T.I.P. was recognized by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) as Outstanding Blood Services Partner of the Year for 2016 for its "highly distinguished service in the promotion of the PRC voluntary blood donation for more than 10 years."

The T.I.P. Manila Mileage Team won the Shell Helix Tribology Award in the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2015, Philippines.
