Tadhg Peavoy

Tadhg Peavoy is an Irish journalist, digital editor and broadcaster who has worked for RTÉ - Ireland's national TV, radio and online broadcaster, as well as Lonely Planet - the world's leading travel content outlet.

His work for RTÉ has been primarily covering sport, film and travel.

He has written for the RTÉ website as their lead rugby writer, working largely on commentaries, previews and interviews.

For the duration of 2012, he worked as RTÉ's London 2012 digital editor, writing, managing and editing content for the broadcaster's website for the competition, during this time he undertook several high-profile interviews with Irish athletes both past and present.

Peavoy also worked as Lonely Planet's global news editor, managing the travel content company's news section from their Dublin office.

He currently focuses on work for RTE Travel.

Early life

Tadhg Peavoy was born in Brussels, Belgium, and moved to Dublin, Ireland, when he was nine-years-old. He attended Belvedere College, before gaining a BA Theology with French at Trinity College, Dublin, and an MA Film and TV Production at the University of Bristol, UK. He currently lives in Dublin.

RTÉ

Peavoy has worked across a range of subjects during his time at RTÉ. He has worked as one of RTÉ Sport's key writers, producing a range of previews, match reports and analysis pieces of Six Nations, Rugby World Cup, Champions Cup, Pro12 and other rugby matches.

He is also known for his coverage of Olympic and minority sports, specifically for interviewing Olympic athletes.

As a travel writer and photographer, Peavoy has travelled across four continents and has also been published by The Irish Times and Travelmag.

He has also written film reviews and interviewed actors for RTÉ Ten.

Peavoy for a period also worked on the production of the RTÉ Player, the station's IPTV catch-up service, as well as working as a cinematographer and video editor.

Independent media work

In addition to his work within RTÉ, Peavoy is known for independent media work, producing short films and documentaries independently and for private corporations. He has also worked as a consultant to several organisations, including Royal Irish Tours (Canada's leading tour operator to the UK and Ireland); the international development charity Gorta - Self Help Africa - dedicated to ending hunger and poverty in rural Africa; and Paris-based fashion brand MACKEENE.

Peavoy lectures in online media at the Dublin Institute of Technology.

Lonely Planet

Peavoy worked as global news editor for Lonely Planet's travel news content in 2015 from their Dublin office, working with teams in London and Nashville, to create written, video and social media content on lonelyplanet.com.

Travel Extra

Peavoy also works as a contributing editor for Ireland's most read travel news website and newspaper, Travel Extra, working with Ireland's most well-known travel writer Eoghan Corry.
