Stonefield is an Australian rock band made up of four sisters: Amy, Hannah, Sarah, and Holly Findlay from Darraweit Guim, a small town in rural Victoria.[1] Amy, the eldest, is the band's drummer and lead vocalist; Hannah plays guitar; Sarah plays keyboards; and the youngest, Holly, plays bass.
History
Previously known as Iotah, the band won the 2010 Triple J Unearthed High contest in 2010 with their song "Foreign Lover".[2][3] After the win the band was placed on high rotation and they recorded "Through the Clover" with ARIA-winning producer Greg Wales.[4] Stonefield were an Unearthed J Award nominee in 2010.[5]
After the band played at the 2010 One Movement Festival in Perth they were approached by a booker for Glastonbury and asked to play at the next year's festival.[6] They did so, playing second on the John Peel Stage from 12:00–12:40 on the first day of the festival, Friday, 26 June.[7]
In June 2011, they performed at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, providing the pre-match entertainment at an AFL match (Geelong vs. Hawthorn), celebrating Womens Round.[8]
Amy Findlay completed a Bachelor of Australian Popular Music degree in 2010 at Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE.[9]
Amy appeared on RocKwiz in 2011, performing "Through the Clover" with the RocKwiz OrKestra and singing a duet of "Itchycoo Park" with Nick Barker.[10]
Their self-titled album Stonefield debuted at number 21 on the ARIA albums chart of 19 October 2013.[11]
Stonefield won the 2015 Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) Music Award for Rock Work of the Year with the song "Love You Deserve".[12]
The band mostly write their own original material, but also do occasional cover versions. These include "Whole Lotta Love"[13] and "Magic Carpet Ride".[14]
In 2015, they covered Fleetwood Mac's song "The Chain" on Katie Noonan's album Songs That Made Me. In 2016, they toured with Fleetwood Mac in Australia for 3 shows.
