Skyline College is one of three comprehensive community colleges within the San Mateo County Community College District. Opened in 1969, the College is located just south of San Francisco in San Bruno, California on a site overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The College serves a diverse population, drawing a wide range of local and international students to its dynamic campus.[1]

Skyline College is committed to developing culturally rich and globally informed educational opportunities for an annual population of over 17,000 students.[2]

Students can choose from more than 100 degree and certificate programs to achieve their educational goals in an affordable and supportive environment.[3]

Academics

With a full schedule of courses leading to over 100 Associate Degrees and Certificates, and a Bachelor's Degree, Skyline College's academic programs aim to prepare students for transfer to a four-year university or to directly enter the workforce.[3]

Degrees and Certificates include:

The college also offers an Honors Transfer Program for students looking to take a selection of honors-designated courses designed to facilitate transfer to a four-year institution.[4]

A wide variety of Learning Communities are available for students who wish to enroll in a preset group of classes with other students who share the same passions, interests, or specific field of study. Students take classes together over two or more semesters and work closely with specific faculty and counselors assigned to their learning community and invested in student success.[5]

Transfer Opportunities

Key transfer agreements set with a wide range of public and private colleges including UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis and San Francisco State University make Skyline College a top destination for students hoping to transfer to a four-year college or university.

Skyline College offers 18 Associate Degrees for Transfer (AA-T or AS-T). These degrees offer a streamlined pathway to transfer, securing guaranteed admission with Junior standing into the California State University system.[6]

A dedicated Transfer Center is available on campus to help students navigate the transfer process and provide them with the resources and tools they will need to successfully transfer to a four-year university. The transfer center hosts visits from College Representatives, free workshops, tours and other transfer events.[7]

Mission - Vision - Values

Skyline College's mission statement is: "To empower and transform a global community of learners." This statement is expanded upon by a vision statement which reads: "Skyline College inspires a global and diverse community of learners to achieve intellectual, cultural, social, economic and personal fulfillment."[8]

The mission and vision statements inform the College's campus-wide “Call to Consciousness” that highlights the value of examining everything through the lens of social justice, both as educators and as students. Educators at Skyline College are committed to a culture of inquiry and innovation that continually surfaces new ways of enhancing academic excellence through campus diversity and equity.

The College brings together complementary student success resources within academic divisions to provide excellent educational programs, state-of-the-art technology, and integrated services and instruction that strive to seamlessly blend education with the resources that enhance it.[9][10]
